A now-viral post on X is getting a lot of attention after political consultant Jeff Timmer shared a sharply critical list titled, “Here is a list of just a few of the things Trump doesn’t understand.”
The post blew up fast, getting a lot of people talking. Some thought it was brutally honest, others thought it went way too far.
The list includes 17 pointed items, covering everything from public policy to basic cognitive concepts.
The list reads:
Business, Economy, Trade, Federal Law, National Security, English, Monetary Policy, Stock Markets, U.S. Constitution, Tax Policy, Federal Spending, History, Current Events, Object Permanence, Oath of Office, Religion, Mirrors.
Social Media Adds Its Own Critiques
Timmer’s post quickly gained traction, with many jumping in to expand the list or take the commentary even further.
One post added, “Electronic Devices, Logic, Grammar, Names, Etiquette, Manners, Courtesy, History, Facts, Truth, Shopping, Groceries, Friendliness, Sense of Humor, Makeup, Hair Care, Magnanimity, Generosity.”
Another added, “Don’t forget umbrellas!”
The tone ranged from humorous to harsh. A few noted Trump’s tendency to ask about executive orders while signing them.
One remarked, “Always funny to watch him ask them questions about the EO HE is signing… I thought it was you doing all this???? Turns out he has no clue what’s going on.”
Critics also suggested he struggles with empathy, diplomacy, and general awareness.
“Add to that list of concepts foreign to Trump & MAGAts: Decency, Humanity, Kindness, Honor,” one said.
Others accused him of misunderstanding satire, climate science, and even geography, referencing his past public remarks.
One person joked, “He literally rewrote the book on world trade. You just don’t like the author,” while another noted, “In his defence though, he can unwrap a Big Mac quite expertly.”
It was clear that, for many, the list became a canvas for piling on everything they found laughable or troubling about Trump.
Supporters Push Back
Not everyone agreed with the criticism. Several posts pushed back, defending Trump’s achievements and mocking Timmer in return.
“He’s a successful businessman, and they know these things. If they don’t, they can afford to hire someone who does. It’s you that doesn’t understand those things,” one person wrote.
Some framed the critiques as intellectual snobbery or deliberate ignorance of Trump’s appeal. “He understands why some like you criticize his every move. And why most don’t understand the extent of his expertise in the other items listed. It’s above their comprehension level and easier to just criticize.”
The List Reveals Bigger Problems
The original post by Timmer was clearly meant as a dig, and it sparked a loud back-and-forth. The replies ranged from biting jokes and scathing critiques to aggressive defenses and personal attacks.
Many saw it as a much-needed callout of Trump’s long history of factual errors, bizarre claims, and shallow grasp of policy.
From not knowing what’s in the executive orders he signs to publicly suggesting windmills cause cancer and misidentifying historical events, critics said this isn’t just a pattern of gaffes, it’s proof he’s unqualified to lead.
To them, the list wasn’t satire, it was a warning.
