Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is sounding the alarm over what she sees as a dangerous and growing disregard for accountability and government oversight.

Her latest criticism is aimed squarely at Elon Musk’s controversial Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, after troubling reports about a potential data breach at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

Whistleblower Sounds the Alarm

Appearing on MSNBC, Crockett addressed the fallout from a whistleblower’s sworn statement submitted to Congress.

The whistleblower, a cybersecurity specialist, claimed that DOGE operatives may have caused a serious security breach at the NLRB and illegally accessed or removed sensitive government data.

“It is so sad when you have a government worker who literally knows that he’s going to have a target on his back, but he believes in something bigger than himself,” Crockett said. “He believes in democracy.”

DOGE Operatives Show Up at NLRB

The very next day, NBC News reported that three men affiliated with DOGE arrived at NLRB headquarters in business attire.

One introduced himself as “Justin” and was seen being greeted by the board’s chairman and general counsel.

This visit raised even more concerns about potential interference and the erosion of institutional independence.

Crockett said it was further evidence that the line between tech moguls and government operations is becoming dangerously blurred.

Direct Hit on Elon Musk

Crockett didn’t hesitate to name names. “The only fraudsters that we see is the one that was actually convicted of fraud in a court,” she said, referring to Musk.

“Him and his goons are the problem in this country right now.”

She said the situation is part of a broader pattern, where those in power are allowed to act with impunity while watchdog agencies are silenced or dismantled.

Crockett noted that Musk had previously been under investigation by the NLRB in 2022 due to employee complaints at SpaceX.

“We know that he was under investigation,” she said. “And this was definitely one of those watchdogs that he wanted to get rid of almost immediately.”

Congressional Priorities Questioned

Adding to her concerns is what she sees as the erosion of serious congressional oversight.

“We’ve had to have hearings about whether or not we should get rid of Sesame Street,” Crockett said.

“But when there’s a concern that we may have Russian infiltration, and I don’t even know if it’s infiltration at this point because it seems like this administration wants to cozy up to Russia in all ways.”

She went on to highlight what she described as baffling geopolitical choices by the current administration. The administration has spent more time antagonizing allies like Canada and Mexico than confronting foreign interference.

Crockett warned that the silence around these issues isn’t just negligence—it might point to something more coordinated.

“For all I know, they just gave over the login information because it seems like they really haven’t decided that Russia isn’t our friend,” she said. “I honestly don’t know if they’re in cahoots or not.”

Criticism of GOP Leadership

She pointed to the GOP’s unwillingness to address these matters seriously, criticizing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who chairs the DOGE oversight subcommittee.

Greene recently dodged a constituent’s question about cuts to Medicaid, Social Security offices, and libraries by calling the constituent “brainwashed.”

Crockett didn’t hold back: “This is coming from someone who clearly reads on a first-grade level,” she said.

“What’s really sad is this is the woman that oversees the subcommittee on Doge.”

Grassroots Backing for Vocal Critics

Crockett ended the segment by underscoring the role of grassroots support in holding powerful figures accountable.

She noted that in the first quarter, she and other outspoken progressives like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) had historic fundraising hauls.

“We weren’t getting a ton of money from big donors,” she said. “On average we had small donors that were pouring into us.”

A Call to Choose Sides

“The only thing that I’m asking of Americans, no matter what party affiliation you normally associate with, is to decide that you’re going to be on the side of right. And right now, everything about this administration is wrong.”
