Pete Hegseth is clearly on his way out due to incompetence. I wonder if the next Secretary of Defense will be from Newsmax,” David Pakman posted on X.

His post captured a wave of frustration and disbelief that’s been growing as the situation inside the Pentagon deteriorates under Hegseth’s leadership.

That single post lit up social media and framed the tone for a broader conversation that feels increasingly serious.

What started as a fringe rumor is now being confirmed by credible sources, including a detailed report on the David Pakman Show that describes nothing short of a “total meltdown” at the Pentagon.

“Middle school drama with the nuclear codes”

According to David Pakman, the situation is spiraling. “Hegseth, who was barely confirmed,” is now at the center of mass resignations, with four top aides walking out in a single day.

One of them was his chief of staff, Joe Casper. The others were allegedly fired over classified leaks, even though they were reportedly about to be cleared.

To make things worse, Pakman says Hegseth’s team tried to anonymously smear the aides in the press.

During his show, Pakman describes the mess as “middle school drama with the nuclear codes,” adding that some of the leaks involved military strike plans, intelligence briefings on China, and carrier movements.

These were allegedly sent out over Signal chats that included family members. In one instance, Yemen strike plans were reportedly shared in a group chat with Hegseth’s wife and brother.

“This is the cost of turning Fox News costume parties into policy makers”

Pakman also noted that Hegseth brought his Fox News producer wife into foreign military meetings.

As chaos unfolds, Trump’s inner circle is reportedly pushing to dump Hegseth, similar to how former defense officials like Mark Esper and James Mattis were unceremoniously pushed out.

Online, the reaction has been blistering. After Pakman’s Newsmax comment, others joined in with similar jabs.

“The bottom of the barrel is empty now,” one user wrote.

Another joked, “It’ll probably be Rosanne or Hulk Hogan.”

Some mocked the possibility of even more extreme replacements, suggesting names like Omarosa, Laura Loomer, and figures from Infowars.

Is Trump finally feeling the heat?

Hegseth’s tenure has been controversial from the start, with confirmation hearings clouded by allegations of sexual misconduct and reports of him arriving at work smelling of alcohol.

With leaks, investigations, and growing pressure from within Trump’s circle, many believe it’s just a matter of time.

As Pakman put it: “This is what you get when you let a guy govern by cable news vibes.”

It’s hard to ignore the sense that leadership standards have become a punchline, not a priority.
